Who would have thought corn and shrimp would go so well together?

I had never made this soup before trying it out for Tropical Foodies and since my soups always tend to be just average, I was a little nervous.  It was remarkably simple  to make and after I was done, all that was left was the photography session. If versatility is a quality that I especially appreciate in human beings, it is even more so true with food ingredients. Yet another colourful Haitian rice!

Remember a previous post (Diri ak djon djon) in which I said that I enjoyed eating rice of different colors? Well, the time has come to introduce another of my favourite; that is the “pinkish” one. This recipe of rice with red kidney beans is a basic side dish in Haiti and can be eaten with any kind of meat, poultry or fish.
