Bananes au four (Baked plantains)
Serves 2
Prep time 15 minutes
Cook time 25 minutes
Total time 40 minutes
Meal type Main Dish

Ingredients

  • 4 Plaintains ((early stage of ripeness and firm))
  • Ground meat (or a simple tomato gravy for vegetarians)
  • Onion and spices (salt, pepper, onion and garlic in powder…)
  • Oil
  • Cheese… of course, for coeliacs and casein intolerants, you can add your favorite gluten-free cheese or any cheese made with soy

Directions

1. Cut the onion in small pieces
2. Mix the grinded meat with your favourite spices and the onion

3. Brown the meat for approximately 15 minutes; remove the meat right before it’s done

4. Peel the plantains and cut them into 2 pieces, lengthwise

5. Remove the middle part of the plantains; try to make a hole without breaking the plantain in two

6. Put the grinded meat in the whole and the cheese on top

7. Put the plantains in the oven at 380°C for approximately 20 minutes
And now, time to dig in!!

8. Mature plantains may get sticky when baking; to avoid some cleaning, place a piece of aluminum foil and oil

9. Serve them hot
10. Preserves well in the fridge
